Join us for a ThamesLark beachcoming day at Pett Level, Fairlight in East Sussex
Sunday 30th November 2014
A day of beachcombing on the famous beach at Pett Level, near Fairlight in East Sussex. We'll be meeting at the Public Car Park and road along by the level from 10am for a 10.30am start. We've arranged for a short talk on the petrified forest to be seen at low tide (11.30am) and a fossil hunting guided tour of the extensive rocks and sandstone cliff line where our guide will point out several dinosaur footprints recently exposed! They'll be plenty of beachcombing opportunities, and the beach itself makes for fantastic photos so bring your cameras. Off shore from Pett Level is the wreck of the Anne - a 70 gun warship run aground in 1690. Although a protected site the wreck is sometimes exposed and can be visited at extreme low tide. Pett Level in the heart of 1066 country promises to provide an exciting and productive family beachcombing day! Finally, we'll have a Kent based beachcombing artist along with us who may give you some inspitarion for your finds! Whatever the weather, we'll be out for the adventure and look forward to you joining us. Our day will conclude around 3pm.
